Super sandwich

When I was a little kid and my dad was in charge of feeding us lunch, he’d ask “soup or sandwich” but we always heard “super sandwich”. Sounds delish, doesn’t it? A super sandwich? No wonder our little brains processed his query that way.

Fast-forward to Monday night which was a work day/night for hunky hubby so no dinner waiting for us when we got home. I am having some work issues this week (managing a team of people can be a blessing and a curse) so I didn’t leave work until 5:30, and Mattias and I didn’t get home until 6:30.

6:30 is typically our dinnertime, so you guessed it, my little dinosaur was hungry. I asked him what he wanted and he said “noodles” and thankfully we happened to have leftover noodles in the fridge. So I whipped those up and served them with the last two dinosaur chicken nuggets I found in the freezer.

But apparently noodles and nuggets are not the ideal culinary combination for a two year old. Two bites in Mattias says, “I need french fries.”

Exhaling deeply I replied, “You want me to cook you some french fries?”

His face lit up and with a huge grin said, “Yes, yes, I want cookies and french fries!”

I called my folks right away to let them know about my super sandwich moment.
