200th Post

This topic isn’t what I wanted my 200th post to be but I guess bed rest is as good as any to mark the milestone.

I was put on bed rest on Tuesday, March 2 and it was just extended another week. I go back to my doctor on 3/16 to find out if it is going to be extended further.

I’ve been having contractions since December and apparently have an irritable uterus. I looked up uterine irritability in my book and googled it and while there is no real reason given for it, it is a real thing that can cause preterm labor. Since I’m only 28.5 weeks, having this baby now isn’t something I want, so I sit, or rather “recline”. My doctor hasn’t taken me out of work yet due to the fact that I can work from home, her exact words, “there is no reason why you cannot use your brain as long as you do it from a reclining or laying down position” and need the paycheck. Thankfully, my boss is being really cool.

My mom is also now here “indefinitely” and is being very strict with me. My hubby doesn’t really get it but that is expected. Not all men can imagine what it would be like to be pregnant and in the 15 years I’ve known him, it’s me who is the nurturing one in the family. My son is taking it in stride, he’s so sweet.

I can be as idle as the next person but this has been really difficult for me. My brain and body feel rested and it’s very difficult and depressing to not be able to be mobile.

But it’s for a good reason, and it is working. The 3-4 contractions an hour I’d been having are down to 3-4 a day and today, so far, I’ve only had two.

So my posts may be a little sporadic since I just don’t have much to say right now. And if you happen to be near my home, stop by. You know where to find me!
