Plight Of The Nursing Mother

I have spectacular breasts. I paid for them to be spectacular so it’s ok for me to brag. But they are also spectacular because they create a life-sustaining substance that allows me to feed my children.

Breastfeeding isn’t for everyone, and not everyone can do it even if they want to and I promise not to go all hard-core Le Leche club on you but I feel very blessed that I haven’t had any issues nursing either of my children.

The human body is spectacular.

That said…baby girl (still trying to figure out her nickname) isn’t quite as efficient as her brother was when it comes to feeding time. She likes to sniff, lick, tug, spit out, grunt, and basically fuss around for several minutes before getting to the business of eating.

I’ve explained to her that I am a sure thing and don’t need the foreplay but to no avail.

The joys of motherhood.

  1. I am so glad that breast feeding works for you. It's a beautiful thing but for me, hurt more that labor and delivery together! I will try again with #2 and hope for better results.

    BTW, your boobs are fabulous!

  2. It's not for everyone, and I have days where I find it exhausting to be covered in sticky milk, or embarrassed because I leaked through a nursing pad in a public place but I am glad I can do it.
