Old School Blogging: ABCs

Tonya from Letters for Lucas tagged me, so I’m happily playing along with Old School Blogging! This month’s topic is ABC’s. Elaine of The Miss Elaine-ous Life is hosting with Jennifer. Link up, if you want to play along too.

Alphabet Meme

Happily attached and married!

B. Best Friend(s)?
Yes, I’ve got those. Thank God.

Cake, cake, cake. I prefer chocolate and raspberry. I also like cheesecake. With raspberry.

D. Day of choice?
A vacation day or a sunny day.

E. Essential Item?
iPhone, mascara, o-gloss, reading glasses, Kindle…oh my, do I have to pick just one? I’m higher maintenance then I thought.

F. Favorite color?
Blue. I like blue. But I mostly wear gray.

G. Gummy bears or worms?
Gummy bears

H. Hometown?
Danville, California is where I grew up. Now I reside in Orange.

I heart red vines.

J. January or July?
January is my firstborn’s birthday month, my annual girls trip to the Sundance Film Festival, and the first of the year. July is my husband’s birthday month, Del Mar opening day, my folks wedding anniversary and it’s sunny. I can’t decide between the two.

K. Kids?

I have a boy and a girl. My son is 6 and my daughter is 3.

My blessings. Mine are the baseball player and the cute girl. The littlest guy in this picture is my nephew.

L. Life isn’t complete without?

My family.

M. Marriage date?
October 28, 2000.

N. Number of brothers/sisters?
I have a baby brother. Ok, he’s not a baby (we are only 13 months apart) but that’s what I call him. My baby bro. He actually signs my birthday cards like that too: Love, Baby bro. And I’m adopted so I also have three bio-sisters who I adore and two bio-brothers. One I adore the other I’ve only met once, but he’s nice.

O. Oranges or Apples.

P. Phobias?
I really don’t like leaving the house with the bed unmade. If I do, it’s not going to rattle me all day but I prefer a made bed to come home to. I’m also not afraid of heights but I prefer both feet on the ground. And don’t even think about coming near my eyes with your fingers. I can touch my eyes, but I’m weird about other people coming near my eyes. Makes my eye doctor appointments a little stressful.

Q. Quotes?
I’m a quote person. I love quotes. “Always start from hope” is a favorite. I also like Joss Whedon’s “Always be yourself…unless you suck”.

R. Reasons to smile?

My family. My husband and kids make me smile (98% of the time). Damnyouautocorrect.com also makes me smile. Seriously, it’s funny shit. Watching my dog endlessly chase a tennis ball makes me smile. Kindness, the little things like someone opening a door for you always makes me smile.

S. Season of choice?

Summer. I like sunny.

T. Tag 5 People.

I got nothing…

U. Unknown fact about me?

I love movie soundtracks. My favorite is Elizabethtown. I keep that CD in my car, and it’s also on my iPod.

V. Vegetable?

My favorite is green beans but I eat most all veggies.

W. Worst habit?

I have a bit of a potty mouth. And I can be as lazy as I am productive.

X. Xray or Ultrasound?

Ultrasound, if I have to chose.

Y. Your favorite food?

No favorites but I love Mexican food. I also love hot & sour soup.

Z. Zodiac sign?

Cute face

Fussypants calls this his “cute face”.

Fussypants and his cute face

He usually makes it when he wants me to laugh or he wants a toy or a sugary treat.

My mother-in-law pulled out photo albums of my hubby’s childhood on Thanksgiving and when I saw this, it all fell into place.

Fussypants has never seen this photo, nor does his father make this face as an adult. But it must be in the genes.

Hunky hubby’s cute face (sorry the resolution isn’t better, it’s a old photo)

Falling for Fall

Who says we don’t have Fall in California? The leaves on our trees have changed and turned into a fun afternoon play activity.

Hockey Fever

My kids make me laugh. This was them, last night at the LA Kings game, between the 1st & 2nd period. They so think they are professional hockey players.

But then Little Miss saw the escalator and insisted her daddy take her up, then down.

And this is Fussypants, asleep in the car. He gets the mouth wide-open thing from me. We also both snore.

My Little Monsters Mash

Fussypants loves to dress up, he even thinks we should all wear costumes on our birthday. He has already decided what he is going to be on his birthday (and it’s not until January).

He also loves to pose for all pictures.

Flying dragon

Little Miss, on the other hand, wasn’t that thrilled with her costume. She enjoyed trick o’treating, but flipped out whenever she saw the camera.

Notice how calm she is?

Now see the stink eye when she sees the camera?

Wordful Wednesday

When you are a parent, as happens, you take oodles and oodles of photos. Many times they take up residence on your camera, because, if you are like me, you post them to fb and your blog and always tell yourself you’re gonna back them up on your hard drive before deleting them but then never do.

I was looking through the gazillion images on my camera yesterday (how big is your memory card? That’s right, sometimes size does matter) and found this gem.

I remember taking this because the first pic I took was without flash, so as to not wake the kiddos, but it was too dark so I flipped on the garage light, opened the car doors and used flash (I’m such a good mom) to capture this rare moment of two sleeping kids who did not wake up as soon as we pulled into the garage.

But I cannot recall where we were coming back from. However, the caution tape, feather, and McDonald’s chocolate milk piques my interest. It looks like it was a good time.

And don’t ask what that thing is on Fussypant’s finger. He’s a collector, it could be anything.

Ah, sleeping children. Bliss.

It’s been awhile since I participated in Wordful Wednesday but if you want to come play too, link up here: Parenting BY Dummies.

Sharing, with stipulations

Fussypants is very good with his sister. He does push and shove and terrorize her on occasion but she’s tough and pushes and shoves and terrorizes right back. Her best tactic however, is to just cry because then she gets an immediate response from me and dad and Fussypants usually gets scolded. He is always honest though and tells us exactly what he did to make her cry (it usually involves a shove or a stolen toy).

Sibling love. Thankfully, they get along really well 95% of the time.

Keeping busy with crayons

Over the weekend Fussypants wanted to make a book, so while he was illustrating his pages he let his sister use his crayons. All’s well until she decides to use them the wrong way. It’s all about sharing, but with stipulations.

Summer Fun Show Off

Have I mentioned lately that Shell (Things I Can’t Say) has the best link ups? I’ve known about this one for weeks but almost missed it due to my self-imposed blog hiatus. Busy is good, but not always.

But here are a few summer fun pics, and a good reason why I haven’t not been blogging…it’s been sunny and I’ve been playing (and also working but let’s focus on the playing)!

How’s your summer been? Show it off! Link up your Summer Fun at Things I Can’t Say for a chance to win prizes from Ubisoft.

Summer 2011, so far

We’ve had a fun and busy summer so far. Vegas, the beach, swimming in our pool, celebrating birthdays…here are some pictures of our summer so far, in a slideshow. It’s about 16 minutes long but there are a bunch of photos!

Hope your summer is going well!

Wordful Wednesday: Morning girl

Little Miss is happy in the morning. Today, she woke at 5:30am. I put her in the sink while I applied make-up (after taking the faucet handles off so she wouldn’t get herself wet). She loved holding (and chewing) lipgloss and mascara tubes. She’s my girly.
